This is a new song we wrote today. There's no synth yet because Andrew could not jam today. Recorded through Garageband with the laptop mic so its a bit dodgy. Enjoy.

Melbourne 2008 Demo

Photobucket

This demo was made to sell at our shows in melbourne in december 2008.
It consists of recordings i made at WAAPA over the course of 2008. HG, HM being the oldest, followed by fields, vessels and four day weekend. The recordings are not great quality (due to my lack of experience and knowledge) but hopefully the songs transcend those limitations. Enjoy.

Tracklisting:

01. Vessels
02. Half Ghost, Half Machine
03. Four Day Weekend
04. Fields

First Demo

Photobucket

So here's our very first demo. Recorded at the end of December 2007 over a weekend at my house in kalamunda. we recorded it using garage band and a dodgy mic. Listening back to it you can easily see how much we've grown, which is obviously good. But it does work as lo-fi, out of time indie by gang of four loving kids.

tracklisting:
01. Untitled
02. Marriage
03. Conflict / Impact
04. Light

Next up i'll be posting our demo from december 2008.
enjoy.

In The Pines

This was one of the reviews we got for in the pines and probably the only one that went for more than a line. the rest were along the lines of "shock! horror! opened proceedings with indie synth pop with shouty vocals" that one isn't a direct quote just what i remember. I don't know if we see ourselves as indie synth pop but i guess everyone has a different opinion, we have been described as no wave and dark wave and various other genres we would of never considered so i guess you are going to get it. I think we will won't be making mix tape anymore either, we  got the last one taken down. Anyways this is it. its from an online magazine called colosoul magazine.

WHO ARE THEY

Shock! Horror!
WHAT THEY SOUND LIKE
Shock! Horror! Started us off at In The Pines with a progressive indie beat that played upon the breeze and found its way into all our hearts. Male and Female vocals pull off an incredible charm and alluring tone as Shock! Horror! Echoed the distinctiveness of the imperfectly perfect world of indie music.
SONGS TO CHECK OUT
“Fields” is definitely one of their more well-known tracks and one they closed with at In The Pines, plus it’s really hard to dislike.

We are writing new songs they are progressing nicely and excited to finally have the chance to play a few less gigs and write new stuff.

Animal Collective

Photobucket

I've been living with Merriweather Post Pavilion for a month now and i must say its impact has not waned one bit. So much has been said about this album already that there is no point trying to add anything to the conversation. However, if i can say one thing at all, it is that i am sure that when i listen to this album in a few years time i will always remember that initial encounter with the album when it blew me away for the first time. I will remember it as fondly as those first listens of 'Funeral' by Arcade Fire, 'Unknown Pleasures' by Joy Division or 'Illmatic' by Nas. It will go down as a timeless classic and will always poignantly reflect my 2009. even though it's just begun.

I thought it would be timely to trace animal collectives development from their early experimental, more chance based recording to their recent explorations in the possibilities of pop music.

Things you see when Driving.

As i was driving home from a pretty crap day from work, around the corner from my house i saw an old man with an ipod & earphones in his ears, casually walking with some runners, cargo shorts and a shirt.

The catch is right, that his shirt was buttoned by one button, meaning as he was walking i saw his entire left breast. Now i know alot of people salivate when seeing something lyk this, i just found it classic, classic enough to write about it. That was pretty much the highlight of my day. If only i could see more old man boobs on days where i felt lyk crap. I would never have to drink my sorrows away again.

Now everyone wish for Andrew Sinclair to get a job at 78's, he had his interview today so hopefully he gets it. He's deserving of it, music is definately his forte & sure knows alot about it. Wish him luck !

P.S. Don't forget about the visual of the old man with his shirt open listening to some probably very funky music, funky enough to let his shirt rip open to show everyone the man he is. A sensible man.

Signed, Natasha, who obviously needs to find another job & better things to look at in her spare time.
